Have you ever wanted to embed tables in Medium but just did not know how?

Medium is an online publishing platform set up in 2012. However, one of its shortcomings is that it does not support HTML tables, which are important to display certain data that require a table format.

Nevertheless, there are several ways to embed tables in Medium posts.

I used the Windows in-built Snipping Tool to take screenshots of tables before I switched to Lightshot. I save the screenshots of a document or a table taken with Lightshot in .png or .jpg format and then upload them to wherever I want them to appear in Medium.

However, there are limitations of using screenshot programs since they are confined to the size of the screen and do not work for longer tables.

I found a simple way to embed tables in Medium using the MS Paint in windows, thanks to this tutorial on YouTube.

This tutorial to embed tables in Medium works for both MS Word and MS Excel Tables.

Here are the steps.

Copy the (section of the) MS Word or MS Excel table that you want to embed in Medium.

Search for Paint in your computer (this may be different depending on which version of Windows you are using).

Click on ‘Paste’ to paste your table in Paint. Then click on ‘Crop’ to remove the unwanted areas.

After you are done, click on ‘File’ then ‘Save As’ to choose the format you want to save your image (PNG or JPEG).

Remember the path that you use to save your picture because you will need it to embed the table in Medium.

In Medium, just choose the ‘Add an Image’ option and link to the path you saved your table as a PNG or JPEG and click ‘Open’. Your image will upload to Medium.

Just like that, you just learnt an easy way to embed tables on medium. Click on the share button to spread the message!
